History on the Lake is a poster I made for my first Typography class. We had to create a graphic utilizing a letter from a font we chose and apply it to a landmark within Milwaukee. I chose the North Point Lighthouse as my location and the font IvyMode. I learned a lot about both IvyMode and North Point Lighthouse. I was drawn to IvyMode because of the unique diamond shape of the tittle on the lowercase “i”. When I knew that I wanted to utilize the unique shape of the “i” I knew that a lighthouse would fit perfect. We learned about grid systems and how to create directional motion utilizing Ellen Lupton’s principles of poster design.
